The short version
We set the few cookies the site needs to work, and we do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. There is no third-party ad network on this site.
What a cookie is
A small file a site stores in your browser so it can recognise the same browser on the next request. Some last only until you close the tab; others persist for a set period.
The cookies we set
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Session | Keeps your visit together across pages — the basic mechanism that lets the site know one request follows another. Without it, nothing works. | Until you close the browser |
| Security token | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery, so a form you submit here cannot be triggered from somewhere else. | Session |
| Sign-in | Set only if you have an account and choose to stay signed in, so you are not asked for your password on every visit. | Until you sign out, or it expires |
| Guest token | Set only if you save an item or set a price alert without an account, so those survive a refresh and can later be merged into an account if you make one. | Up to 12 months |
What we do not set
- No advertising cookies. There is no ad network on this site.
- No cross-site tracking, and no profile of you built with anybody else.
- No social media pixels embedded in our pages.
Retailer sites are different
Following a link takes you to a retailer's own site, which will set its own cookies under its own policy — including affiliate cookies that record the referral so we are credited if you buy. We have no control over what a retailer sets once you are there.
Controlling cookies
Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies, usually under Settings → Privacy. You can remove ours at any time.
Blocking the session and security cookies will stop the site working properly — you will not be able to sign in or submit a form. Blocking the sign-in and guest tokens only means you will need to sign in more often and that guest saves will not persist.
Changes
If we add or remove a cookie, this table changes with it and the "last updated" date above moves.
