Search at a scale that bites

We are small, and most of what we do is engineering: indexing tens of millions of products, keeping the data honest, and making a search feel obvious when the thing behind it is not.

No open roles right now — read on before you close the tab.

What working here is like

Three things that are actually true, rather than three that sound good

Real scale

Tens of millions of rows, queried while somebody waits. Performance is a daily concern here, not something you get to postpone until it becomes a project.

Real ownership

You will take things end to end rather than being handed tickets someone else already scoped. That includes deciding some of it is not worth building.

Written down

Decisions get explained, not just made. If you cannot follow why something is the way it is, we treat that as a bug in the writing, not in you.

How we hire

Conversations, not a homework marathon

We do not set week-long take-home projects. If we cannot tell from talking to you and looking at something you have already built, the problem is our process, not you.

1

You write to us

Tell us what you would want to work on here, and point at something you have built. A paragraph with a link beats three pages of formatting.

2

A conversation

Half an hour on what you have done and what you want to do next. You ask as much as we do — it is a two-way decision.

3

A real problem, together

We walk through something we are actually dealing with, out loud. No whiteboard algorithms, no trick questions.

4

An answer either way

You hear back whichever way it goes, with a reason. Silence after an interview is rude and we are not going to do it.

Open roles

Nothing posted at the moment

Write to us anyway

Roles here tend to get created around a person rather than posted and filled. If you have read this far and think you should be here, tell us what you would work on and why at careers@zainera.com. We would rather read that than a CV — and we answer every one.
